Regional Mental Health Center offers both inpatient and outpatient psychiatry services. Our psychiatric staff include board-certified adult and child psychiatrists who provide diagnostic mental health evaluations, psychiatric management and mental illness treatment with psychiatric medications.
All treatments are carefully monitored for safe use and the minimization of unwanted side effects. Regional's psychiatrists educate and involve clients in treatment planning. They also coordinate medication treatment with other therapists and treatments provided at Regional in addition to communicating with a client's primary care provider. This approach to coordinated health care ensures our clients receive comprehensive physical and mental health care.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we can provide HIPAA-compliant and secure psychiatry services online or over the phone (telehealth) in the comfort of your home or other agreed-upon location — depending on what is most appropriate as determined by the psychiatrist. Individuals without a computer or a phone — and in need of psychiatry — can use designated telehealth rooms at Strawhun Center, Stark Center, Borto and Lakeside. However, individuals are asked to call before entering the facility.
Adults with acute psychiatric symptoms requiring high-level care due to risk to self or others can be admitted to our Inpatient Psychiatric Unit—a 16-bed, locked hospital unit offering a safe, structured and therapeutic setting. Average stay is 7 days. Family meetings and discharge planning are critical for clients and their support system to transition successfully to a lower level of care and avoid re-hospitalization.
