Regional Mental Health Center Hearing Impaired Services Programs

Regional Mental Health Center maintains special services for deaf and hard of hearing clients who may be in need of outpatient mental health or gambling services. This service is provided by Lisa Ogut, a master’s trained clinician based at the Highland outpatient office. Using American Sign Language (ASL) with deaf clients, she provides
- Outpatient services
- Outpatient gambling services
- Interpretation services for the psychiatrist if needed
Individual and family therapy is available for all ages in need of this service. Lisa has a videophone (219-961-3041) and is at this number Tuesday through Friday.
Regional also holds the contract for the northern part of Indiana for services to the deaf and hard of hearing with mental health or substance abuse problems. During FY '14 Regional served more than 100 clients with hearing disabilities via a signing psychotherapist, a signing case manager and other clinicians making accomodations for hearing impaired clients.
